This is a fun age!

We dont know what is yet to come and we are enjoying every moment, but this age is fun! Logan seems to be taking things in. He seems something new and he finds ways to discover what it is and does and of course the tried and true, how it tastes. He is a watcher and always has to see and know what is going on. Hes very nosy when we go anywhere and usually pays more attention to other people when we go out to eat, or to the store. He used to say mamamam and dadada and blablabla but then he started to crawl. Once he became mobile, everything else took a back seat. He started by getting on his knees, to rocking, to a one 2 foot long crawl in one day. 2 days later, he was doing circles around the house. As soon as he could crawl, he could sit up on his own. About a week after that he could pull up onto any object that would allow it. Now he is lifting his legs as if to climb up objects. Gates are up after finding him on the 2 second step on his way to the third one. He is now staring to let go of thing, although he instantly falls. I give it a week. Now that he is has mastered crawling, he is back to speaking. He has no words besides the normal baby babbling but we are getting there. He is getting a very good attitude and can throw his toys (sometimes far!) when he is mad. His toys though, are not the source of fun for the time being. Kitchen tools, my purse and its content, the dogs... I put him in front of his toys and he books it in the opposite direction. Put him back, and repeat. But he giggles, and plays, and hugs and kisses (or sucks on my nose...), and smiles and loves. I love him!

Saturday, someone had a tiny rash so we gave him a bath and let him have some naked time. That red blanket then got washed because in the 20 mins we let him go naked, he peed. Of course.

Let me tell you about our mornings. 6:03 today. usually before 7 has become our "normal" Matt got up with him this morning because I was up many many times during the night to feed him (Growth spurt?!?! NOOOOO!!). So matt gave him to me at 7:30 when he left for work. Hyper kid. He crashed before he even got his 9am breakfast.

He has been able to blow raspberries and fart sounds with his mouth forever (6months?) now. But for some reason, he has just found the entertaining ability of his tongue as an object in his mouth and not just a noise maker. Maybe that will help our speaking abilities?

Mmm Food

If he cant choke on it, it probably goes into his mouth (except the recommended wait till a year stuff). Logan has my love of ice cream, thank goodness. Yet hes had it once so I cant draw conclusions I guess. He has had many many food by now along with his baby food that he seems to not mind. So far, hes not picky but Im sure he will be very very picky in time. Pancakes though, are a hit!

That is not a toy!

Paper towels

books

money!

Playdates!

2 swings and 3 babies. Jaxen  went solo and Logan rode with Annabelle.

It was a nice day for a walk.

Jaxen had so much fun, he passed out on the lawn. Logan wanted to see if he was alive.

3 babies sitting still? ha ha. I cant get one to sit still

My toy. My kid cant share. in his defense, it is his toy.

Picture updates!

He wakes up in the morning very very happy. Mom and dad are not happy when those wake ups are at 6 and on a consistent basis.

He likes to try to climb up on things but cant get his feet to do what he wants so he ends up kneeling a lot

Baby loves power cords. He can spot them from across the room and be there before you blink

Blue solo cup, please fill me up! This cup was 45 mins of nonstop entertaining. Best toy ever.

Yeah, we give the kid bits of ice cream.

He can look at you like your off your rocker.

These blocks are the current favorite toy. Build a tower, knock em down!

He saw me use it and wanted to figure it out...

A baby who never sits still anymore

Makes for really bad pictures. His attention span is currently shorter than mine.

Logans First Easter

Your going to do the bunny pic for Logans first Easter right? Uh... I guess so. Yeah, not a smart move. Lets go wednesday morning as soon as the bunny gets there. He should be happy at 9am. Oh boy. He was NOT happy. He had woken up at 6am and had yet to nap. My child was trying to figure out whether he should play with the bunnys glasses, or cry. The photo below was shot .2 seconds before a full on cry annoyed mall goers. Oops. "First pic is good enough. Ill take it". And that is how our bunny trip went. Not a crying action pic, but a not so happy Logan on a lap pic. Good enough. Im sure next years will be an action crying pic.

Fast forward to Easter Sunday. The Bunny came! Logan may be too young to remember, care, or not know the difference between when mommy comes home with a bag of goodies and when that bag is pretty with green (or blue) grass and on the living room floor to find when you wake up. The Bunny man went slightly... Overboard... But In the Bunnys defense, it was time for some new toys and some bigger clothes and pjs. And there was a good sale on Gerber treats. And we wanted to try some new sippy cups. So, im glad the Bunny brought Logan all this awesome stuff that we wanted needed.

Action shots with snot are the best I can do. Little man doesn't remember how to sit still or look at a camera or know how to blow his own nose. He has had a cold for a few says now.

The Easter Bunny also brought Logan the ability to crawl. He had yet to do it for me but Matt has seen it a few times and Logan did it in front of an audience when I walked away.

Logan, 8 months old

A few days late. Because I was hoping that we would have something fun to post about. He doesnt really have many new stories or experiences to really brag about. He looks at things differently now, examining them and manipulating them in new ways with some new brain power. Hes in 9-12 month clothes now. I get kisses here and there, woke up to a kiss the other day. I get hugs and I LOVE those hugs. I get giggles and smiles and love.

8 month stats:

Mastered skills that most can do:
Says "mama" or "dada" to parents (isnt specific) - no. He was on a mama and dada kick but he doesnt really say either anymore. now he makes a "Gha" or "gat" kind of sound for everything.
Passes objects from hand to hand - Oh yes.

Emerging skills that half the kids can do:
Stands while holding onto something - yes
Crawls -  no
Points at objects - no
Searches for hidden objects - oh yes

Advanced skills that few kids can do:
Pulls self to standing - Yes. He can do it when we hold out of hands or when he grabs my pant leg but thats it.
Cruises -  no
Picks things up with thumb-finger pincer grasp - He manages his puffs and yogurt melts just fine and can occasionally use his thumb and finger to get them into his mouth but its not an all the time thing.
Indicates wants with gestures - He pulls at my shirt when hes hungry and reached for his toys when he wants THAT ONE.
