Nascar!

Although Logan only saw about 5 minutes worth of 1 car at a time going around the track, he enjoy his Nascar vacation.

First part of the trip, involved welcoming the big haulers. They were cool and Logan didnt seem to mind watching. Until they blew their horns. Some blew the horn for a second or a few times in a row. The ones that blew the horn non stop scared Logan, and me!

After we welcomed the big trucks, we went to dinner at a near by Casino. By Casino, I mean they had a few pool tables and a handful of slot machines. They also had a restaurant. That had no high chairs. But I always carry my plastic highchair so no big deal. Food was not bad but we say Logan projectile vomit a green bean.

It was cold at night. Really really cold. Logan and I snuggled on the couch turned bed and Matt somehow slept in the top compartment above the drivers seat turned bed. It was cold. And I could hear Matt banging around all night long. And he was cold. and I was afraid Logan was cold so I made sure he was covered but  I didnt want him to get tangled in the covers so I would move them off a little. It was cold. Matt gave up with his bed and we all snuggled every night after that. It was still cold though.

Next morning, we all warmed up with coffee and breakfast. Logan found a new toy on Grandpas head!

For the 5 minutes we watched a few cars qualify, he was not a fan of the noise cancellation head phones.

but later on in the evening, he didnt mind having them on! Probably cause he couldnt hear me and Grandma talking....

We did a charity walk on the track

we walked the track and kept Logan in the stroller but we figured he should at least walk. He wanted to keep running the wrong way so his walking was short lived.

Spaghetti lunch!

Daddy cuddles

While Gram, Gramp, and daddy went to watch the race (we came for a race?), Logan and I had 4 hours to kill in an rv. We walked around outside, kicked a ball around, ate rocks and wanted to steal other peoples cans out of their coolers. Safer to keep him inside but it gets boring. So we tried food. He decided that his new spot was in front of the passenger seat. A little nook he could eat and play in. It was filled with our stuff before we loaded the car to go home so this was new. I bet Grandma had fun vacuuming that spot.

Then he learned how to put things around his neck.

We had fun!

Candy corn cookies!

I needed something to make for a family reunion/cookout. It was in October so I was looking for something fall themed. Then I came accross candy corn cookies. I am not making a tutorial because I suck and dont have the right pictures and there are much better ones out there. But, I am damn proud of myself because they tasted yummy (http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/the-best-rolled-sugar-cookies/Detail.aspx) and looked super cute! Parchment paper for the win!

hi!

Snickers is never far behind when food is involved.

water fun

Logan LOVED water tables.

Catch up!

My child has 3 eggs on his head right now. Life is busy and 2 eyes must be on him at all times. Even with 4 eyes on him, he bangs hi head. It doesnt help that he likes to walk around blind and into walls. I'd call him weird but I think its normal 1yr old behavior. And luckily, the eggs dont stay big for long so we dont like like bad parents for more than just a day. I dont have pictures of Logans party (you know, from 2 months ago) because I didnt take them but I know once I get them from my mother in law (and give her the ones shes been asking for), ill post em.

Logan walks, runs, jumps, dances, climbs, crawls when he thinks its funny being on all 4s like the dog... Kid gets around. He has 4 teeth and is cutting another one as I type. He falls asleep in his crib on his own and stays there all night. Sometimes he wakes up around 5, other times he sleeps all night and once in a blue moon, he wakes at 2am and 5am. And he is up around 7am. Around 7am means anytime after 6:15 and before 7:15. If its before 6:15, its tooooooo early and if its after 7am, I consider that sleeping in. So he gets around just fine, eats food just fine with his teeth, and sleeps like a pro.
He is not potty trained yet but he did bring me his wipes a few weeks ago when he pooped! Potty training... As much as I would love to potty train before another baby comes, thats an unrealistic goal and Logan has way to many cute diapers that would go to waste not being on his cute butt. He has had many hair cuts to tame his wings bit his curls are still there. He is tall and skinny so he fits into larger size 18m clothes and smaller fitting 24m clothes. Logan has no clue how to play a game on my iPhone or iPad but he LOVES to skype. or look at himself in the forward facing camera. He facetimes daddy, skypes a few people and enjoys seeing himself. He walks around with the phone in hand and keeps it pointing at his face really well. He loves all the animals. Snickers actually plays with him and lets Logan chase him around the house. Moxie tolerates Logan yanking her legs and fur but she gets lots and lots of Logan hugs. Olly runs away. Simon is a step ladder or cuddle buddy, depending on whether he is on the couch or up against it on the floor. But Simon gets lots of Logan hugs too. We get lots of Logan hugs. He stops what he is doing, runs over to us and throws his arms around us. I love him. We say "I love you" to him a lot and tonight, I heard him say it back to Matt. I screamed "OMG!" and Matt was so excited "did you hear him?!?". Logan said "I love you" to his daddy :). He also says "thank you" when I hand him something and say it myself. We are getting there. He runs around the house "hi kitty! hi kitty!" to the cats and the dogs. "UH!" means up. He doesnt have the P yet. He never says "mama" but he knows who I am and he can say. But I hear  "dada" "dadddeeeee" "ddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" a lot. Probably why daddy got the first "i love you". eh, he deserves it. Logan doesnt have a lovey but he is attached to his wubbanubbs. I think we will cut the paci part off once he has a few more teeth (they seem to help his teething) and see how that bites us in the butt. He doesnt suck a thumb or finger so hopefully when we cut the paci out, he wont find his thumb.
He loves to build things with blocks and loves when he gets to knock down big block towers. His toys of choice are Matts old matchbox cars. His non toys of choice, are cups and anything that fits into them. So far, he eats anything but he doesnt always want to eat it. He LOVES milks. He loves his breakfast too. And calls it "hhaa" because he waits with my by the toaster or microwave and I tell him its hot. He throws balls really well and chases them around the house. He doesnt sit for more than 1 minute and rarely pays attention to the tv. So far, bubble guppies has kept his attention the longest but I like Chuggington and Doc McStuffins myself. Logan claps for Kelly and Micheal when there is clapping noise. He dances to music sometimes.

When Matt or I check on Logan at night, we ask the other "is he still cute?" and we always say "yes, hes still cute" :) We love him.

14 months

Mastered skills that most kids can do:
Eat with fingers - Oh yes. or else he would starve because he must do it himself
empties containers of contents - oh yes. fills them, empties them. Fills them, empties them.
imitates others - oh yes. He mocks my high pitched squeals on a regular basis

Emerging skills that half the kids can do:
Toddles well - uh... like walk? then yes. He toddles very very well.
initiates games - He does! Matt bounces logan on his legs and does a little song. Logan goes over to matts legs now and tries to do the song when he wants to be bounced.
Points to one body part when asked- yes, his belly. He knows head and nose but he doesnt do it often when asked. He knows his belly
Responds to instructions- he has started to over the last few weeks. He can go get a ball when asked, hugs the animals by name, come when called, now he kisses us when asked :)

Advanced skills that some can do:
Uses a spoon or fork- no. I put the noodle on the fork and he eats it off, he also tries to stab the noodle but is unsuccessful.
Matches lids with appropriate containers - he put the right pot lid on the pot the other day... but I dont normally have lids in need of a container
pushes and pulls toys while walking - pull. no. push, yes. And drags things all over, including the kitchen chairs.

Vacation at the Cape

The day after Logans Birthday Party (which, i will blog about when I have some pictures), we headed to Cape Cod for a family vacation. Goal was: Leave at naptime and drive to the outlets, kill time at the outlets, drive to our hotel during afternoon nap. It worked! Except Logan and Matt had a boring time at the outlets.... why? Logan enjoyed playing with rocks and Matt just let him. It was a nice day but I certainly dont have very good shoppers in my immediate family.

We got to out hotel, played and then grabbed some nasty dinner somewhere quick. The next day, I ran to the store for snacks and food. My kitchenette was the crappiest kitchenette ever. I had to fight for a microwave even though my email said I would have a microwave. So we went out to dinner everynight. First night, we went to Doyles, suggested to us by my aunt. It was good! Matt got up to go to the bathroom and Logan SCREAMED "DAAAADDDDDYYYY". Oh boy. He cried. Daddy came back and all was good. Customers though it was cute. I did not, sorry Matt.

Cape Cod Potato chips!

We tried the beach. It was Logans first beach experience. He didnt hate it but it was not exactly very entertaining to him.

He did like crawling through the waves and didnt care when he got a face full of water.

We went to the Zooquariam to kill time.

We went to Captain Parkers for dinner. Apparently, its where Matt fell in love with prime rib way back in the day during soccer or something. Logan entertained a few tables nearby, and they entertained him. It took an hour to get in, so it was crowded. Food was amazing and Logan was so well behaved. Until he slammed his head down on the table while we ate dessert. He was gearing up for a huge cry/screa/meltdown when Matt shoved a spoonfull of whipped cream into Logans mouth. Good move. Logan never let out a peep and demanded more whipped cream.

Back to the beach!
