Baby Bard 2, cleft issues.

At our 20 week ultrasound, Baby Bard 2 had a noticeable cleft lip. The tech and dr said that is was just the lip and the palate looked good. We had to process that little bit of new info and wait for our higher level ultrasound 2 weeks later. That ultrasound showed a very active baby who kept its hands moving and near its face and a face buried into the placenta which is anterior so a bit harder for the pics. Lip was still there, and they spent a lot of time trying to get the palate. The dr came in and showed us one pic that indicated that there was a cleft palete also. So now we had that to process. Matt and I just shared our personal concerns for ourselves, and made some small talk in the car. We slowly process our own feelings and then had a nice conversation when we both were in a place to process it together. We both are well aware that BB2 will be well cared for and treated by a team of professionals to help it with anything it may need. BB2 has me to take care of it night and day and cuddle it and love it. BB2 is going to have an awesome brother to kiss it and a dad to spend lots of time with it. BB2 is the easy part in this for the beginning. My personal concerns focus more on my son. My son is the one who will get less time having a new sibling and now a sibling with time consuming needs. Luckily, Matt will be able to manage most of his workload from home. When he goes into work, he can take Logan for short trips. Logan can also go to my friends house for babysitting 1 or 2 days a week while Matt does a full day in the office. I have an unlimited number of resources and people willing to help and am so thankful for that. Logan will be in good hands with everyone. Him and daddy already have many park trips while I puts around the house and that will only become a stronger bond this summer and fall.
We don't really know the extent of the clefts and the ultrasounds didn't really allow us to see very much. The pictures I was given do not show anything on them. I have not gone back to my dr since finding out so I have a lot of questions going in my head that I cant wait to get answers on. I go back Thursday, so hopefully I will know more of where to go next with this journey.
We can and will handle this. I still cant wait to see my baby and I have a feeling that baby will be very very cute regardless. I already want to give it a big hug for everything it has been through. I cant wait for those first cuddles.

When you can think for yourself, you get in trouble a lot

Logan has not been a difficult child at all. He is easy in almost every way and predictable in most situations. His behavior is usually easily modifiable and he listens fairly well for now. Thank goodness because we have a tough road ahead of us with baby 2.
While Logan has been a dream child thus far, his little baby mind certainly is working well and he is becoming his very own person. He gives hugs and kisses like its is job. He loves to be silly and make you laugh and make himself laugh. While he is silly and entertaining, he is also growing into the testy phase.
He LOVES to play with liquids of any sort. So give him an empty cup and he dumps it out, not on accident. Give him a straw cup and he sucks it out and spits it out. Snickers gets covered sometimes. I have a hard time keeping my child from having drinks but he does often times get his drinks taken away from him. He gets enough and pees way too much so im not concerned but I hate that we play this game. He has received his first time outs over the last month for this very act of spitting his drink out.
How do time outs go? uh.... not well. We have only done a few for 30 seconds to get the feel for them. He doesn't get too many because he doesn't need them. But he has started the hitting over the last few days also.  Wonderful.

He also LOVES playing with water. We got a water table for outside and cant wait to set it up. Thank goodness fridge water dispensers have locks. Ours is constantly "broken". sorry kid. Only works for mommy.

Logan's second Easter

Logans found his basket right away in the living room, on his couch. He sat down and realized this was something cool for him and he inspected it for a bit. He was actually interested in opening it too, unlike Christmas time. He took things out, one by one and inspected them and stopped to play with them. It was a success in our book!

Baby Bard 2, 20 weeks

We are 20 weeks with a healthy little Baby Bard 2.
We had our ultrasound today and opted out of finding out the gender, again. It is much more boring this time. I have all the gender neutral stuff we need and we wont buy the bedding or furniture until baby is born. No rush. But boring. Boring is not a bad thing though.
I felt this little bub a bit later than Logan. I am just this week finally feeling stuff. Our ultrasound today showed a very active BB2 and I felt it good. The full bladder probably helped.
Logan has no clue what is going on. He did not seem too entertained by the dancing baby on the big screen in the ultrasound room. I did ask Logan to peek at the gender but he is not spilling the beans.
So far, all we have are creepy ultrasound pics. In 2 weeks we go for a level 2 ultrasound and hopefully we will have some better pictures. I guess a fetal echo is now standard in IVF patients, I had one with Logan. I got 3d pics last time out of the deal and im guessing Ill get some this time too.
I have not gained much weight but im also weighing more than I did with Logan. BB2 is on the small side, so was Logan. I am still puking a few times a week. I feel sore a lot in the lower belly and Im not sure if its because im pregnant with baby 2 or from the c section scar tissue. Matt can feel BB2 moving already.
We love BB2 and seeing him/her today was of course, awesome.

Logan, 20 months!

Mastered skills most can do-
feeds doll: He gave Elmo some milkshake today
Takes off own clothes: no. Luckily, he doesnt try yet,
Dumps an object in imitation, such as throwing away : oh yes. Trash stays in the garage now or everthing would get tossed

Emerging skills that half the kids can do-
Learns words at a rate of 10 or more a day: Uh... he doesnt say real words much but he knows a lot.
Can walk up stairs (probably not down): he can walk up and down stairs that are far apart or only 1 or 2. he walks up and down most stairs holding our hands

Advanced skills a few kids can do-
May start exploring genitals: Hes a boy. Hes been doing it since his hand was able to get to it.
Draws a straight line: I cant even get him to sit still and draw.
Names several body parts: He says nose. He knows where to find many others though.
